    Sharp MX-5112N

Just setup the above with a customer today for scanning.

They can scan to a 2003 server but not a 2008 (none R2), I recall something about this but cannot find any guidance. Any advice please?

    Thanks

I think this is to do with smb server feature. first check the mfd firmware which is currently 08.20.R1.00 and driver versions on the servers are current.
Also Check that the MFP has SNMP protocol enabled under Port Control in Security Settings as well.
worst case you might have to disable/enable SMB1 and SMB2 on the server and check which one is working. Good luck !!

With a Ricoh it is a matter of up dating the network support firmware. I have to find anyone who has been able to successfully modify the SMB settings on Windows. One other considerations is that SMB2 on Windows 7 and Server 2008 R2 require that both a user name and password be used for scan to SMB 1 on Server 2003 did not require password.

        Machine is on latest firmware.

Password is in for it to work, I know its talking to the network as its not giving me wrong password errors just a time out.

you may need to enter user name as domain/user . windows 2008 server is win vista based and win 2008 r2 is win 7 based. As far as I know Sharp has hadn't had any fw updates for general SMB access. the 5110 series is smb 1 and NTLM2. use a utility like netscan to see what ports are open on server and mfp, if mfp has only tcp port 139 open, NetBIOS needs to be running/available, if port 445( the newer sharp mfp's have port 139 and 445 open.) is open smb should work, most of the time it is a rights issue, Check with IT admin to make sure smb1 is on, on the server. Supposedly server 2012 r2 is supposed to have smb1 off out of the box and starts up with smb3 first, Also smb scanning with win 10 is not an issue with the 2610....5110 series and above. I have several 5110 and 2610 and 2640 scanning to win 10 with smb.
