c451 win prints OK mac only text

Hi

Have a Konica Minolta C451 that prints anything from Windows 8.1 (using win7 x64driver) but would not print jpegs from any OSX (10.10 and 10.7 tried). Also tested with several drivers including Generic Develop and Olivetti.

Machine was on G00-R5 firmware flashed it with GP1-R6 and it did not make any difference. Using latest driver available on KM site.

Tried different protocols to print from :
Bonjour (test page , excel OK, Jpeg flashing for ever)
IPP (set static IP and again flashing for ever nothing prints out)
LPD (set static IP and printer text but jpegs flashing for ever ot timeout error after 10 seconds, when timeout extended to 300s it still times out in 10s)
JetDirect(same as LPD)


Tried C253 and INEO+650 in the office right now and it prints anything from the same 10.7 mac I used at customer. Using any printer driver:
If KM driver is used on C253 Bonjour(DHCP) Prints fine,
IPP (Won't connect)
LPD and Jetdirect prints fine using C253 or Generic 35C-4 driver.

Same applies from INEO +650 using Generic 50C-1 driver for Bonjour(DHCP) Prints fine
IPP (won't connect)
LPD and Jet Direct will print fine using either KM or Generic drivers for as long as Static IP is set.

Has anyone came accross this or at least can point me to a different direction?

Going to try Data Clear and NIC reset using NVRAM clear tool, but haven't got much of a hope on that one.

My experience printing from Mac to Ricoh color machines is that to print in color, you have to install postscript on the MFP. For B/W you can just use Apples Generic PCL Driver.

Yes you maybe not far from truth but these machines don't need PS separately as far as I know. Its all inone package as one box unless you want to enhance with FIery.

Thanks for the advise though I will look in to special Firmwares for PS only..

I agree with Slimsob there must be something wrong with the PS interpretation problem on the machine. Try some random stuff like disabling the HDD.

Also check under user settings ->printer settings-> PS. See if it is the same as the working machine.

Tried HDD Uninstalled and also physical format then again logical format. Eventually I replaced HDD and Memory DIMMS. No difference.
Did DATA Clear as well..System error clear..
Re-flashed with R6 mass production - then GWH-R6 firmware in case this also touches anything else then freezing point and it did not work.
Windows PS driver also doesn't work.
Tried KM Driver 4.7.1 and Generic 4.4.5
So the only thing that works is PCL from windows

Tried printing PCL & PS fonts from machine user menu and that is fine.

There is offending command "image" with error "IOERROR"C451 POSTSCRIPT ERROR.pdf

We are pulling the machine out tomorrow so I'm eager to see what happens in the workshop when I replace the MFPB as client wants it OUT

What happens if you print from a PS driver on a windows machine? Try using Cups on the MAC?

Tried windows PCL - works
Windows PS - doesn't as I mentioned above.

Haven't tried CUPS

OK, is there a fiery connected to the machine?
The PS-drivers for Fiery and c451 are completley different.
Fiery IC412 is the correct question for searching PS driver at konicaminolta driver site.
If Fiery is installed, the native konicaminolta drivers will tell you lots of trouble.
Give the Fiery drivers (connected by LPD) a chance and also the macs will run the prints properly.
The Fiery- DVD or CD is anyway in the deliverypackage, have a look at them.

It looks like it does not like the image. Try a lower resolution for the image.

FWIW, I use an Mac, but it is an older Mac which uses the older PowerPC CPU Architecture, Mac OS X 10.4.

I have had the same issues that you have mentioned above with a data light flashing forever, printing to a Ricoh CL4000DN which has the postscript option.

The workaround that I have found is that if you use the option of saving the document as PDF or Print to PDF and then opening the PDF in Adobe Acrobat or Apple's Preview program, it *usually* prints in a timely fashion.

Strange I know, but since I use a PC too (Windows 7 Pro, 64 bit), I have been transferring the pdf file to the pc to print and it prints QUICKLY!

I have to put my hands up, as I made a mistake along the diagnostics. We swapped machine which I tested before we put it in and whilst machine was on DHCP it picked everything it needed. Printed test page was ok from mac, as soon as larger file was coming i.e. Jpeg (2.MB+) it timed out. :?? Extendind timeout got me to blue light flashing. Since PS expands to rather large amount of data without timeout (1000s) obviously it wouldnt print and essentially error out(32)
Got another port open put my mac on LAN and put new network cable to different socket and the bastard worked. Just got confused by the fact that I had no issue printing over wifi from windows anything to print and from mac only text or test page.
Just one thing still baffles me, why in the hell the machine didn't print with direct manual setup i.e. Mac >>> Machine ? Tried 2 cables.
I will have the machine later in workshop and test it again.

I have for sure learned another lesson to not to trust the obvious. If it works-RE-TEST IT and don't take it for granted!(in my case the windows situation, you would have thought network it can't be)

FYI - It is network over Cisco AP.

I have experienced where Cisco equipment, especially their network switches exhibit an issue called "link flapping" where if a device can't connect to the network properly, the Cisco device basically shuts down the associated network port!....the fix has been to put a simple and cheap 5 port ethernet switch between the offending mfp or computer and the Cisco network switch!

Don't ask me why or how, but it just works!

I tired very low res like screenshots etc and none worked or from the web ..But thanks
