    Ricoh MP C6000 Vista Ultimate

I do not see a bulletin nor custom firmware for this machine.

But I have setup a folder in vista that does not use vista user authentication and I even went as far as disabling the builtin firewall no matter what I do on the MFP it asking me for a user.

So scenario #2 I created a ricoh user set the share permisions as admin to this user and set up this user to be able to have all rights to this folder. I go back to the MFP enter the ricoh user in SMB and same results.

I am now suspecting that Vista ultimate needs a MS Patch that addresses MTU Packet size during SMB and maybe this is why it is not allowing to scan.

What are your thoughts on this?

First of all I really do not have an answer for you. However, you asked for my thoughts and that I CAN provide. Clicking here will take you to the patch I believe you are referring to. My deal is that I do not see how this would affect authentication, but then I am not familiar with Ricoh connectivity either. Does the Vista node have access to any other device on the network, and if so perhaps there is a configuration issue after all. I apologize for responding without the Ricoh experience you might require.

I appreciate your help. But I found the answer it is in fact two methods. You can choose the SP1 update way which is my #1 choice as service packs fix bugs within a system and patches any security vulnerability that the OS might have. #2 you can just install the individual patch to address this issue which the MS guy told me same thing it's much easier to download sp1 we did not discuss the individual patch so I cannot provide this info. Tested and confirmed SMB is working. It does help also to disable within the folder settings on vista workstation to disable user authentication for shared folders off. I hate vista can't stand it. I only use it in VMware and refuse to use it as my main os. I do alot of testing both at work & at home.

Check my earlier posts for Vista scanning info, it may help. Also on the newest Ricoh machines I beleive you can alter the mtu size in WIM setup.
