    Scanning to server

The other day I ran into a scanning issue with a clients pseudo server. The machine is essentially a Win7 Ultimate box with network shares. Scanning is set up to a network share on this server from a Sharp MX-M453N. Scanning is successful all day long until the following morning. When the office opens up in the morning and the client tries to scan they receive the CE-00 error code. After cycling the power on their server scanning is successful again. In speaking with their network admin a backup is performed nightly and nothing else.

Any ideas what could be going on here? Any help would be appreciated.

Could it be something as simple as one or more of the devices are on DHCP and they keep losing each others IP addresses?

      Hey,

Check the Windows 7 System Event log a few minutes after the scan failure. If you get a 2017 Event ID try the below link, the server could be refusing SMB connections due to the maximum allowed. Who knows what happens overnight on the server.

Either way you should check the event log on the server it could provide some important info.

create a new user named scanner.
        use a simple password.
        Check user cant change password.
free the scan-directory for that user with write permit.
        thats it.

"Free the scan-directory"? Would you expand on that? I created a new user on a pc in the office and could not find the option to prevent password change.

I think he means remove all files from the folder. That won't help.

Anyway it can't be a user account issue, this is an SMB protocol communication issue with this customer's server. Did you try my advise above? Check the event log on the server.

I agree with ApeosMan. The nightly backup is possibly leaving multiple file access hooks into the server that are not being reset until the customer reboots the computer. have their IT see if they can program the backup to initiate a system reboot when it completes.
