Sorry, should have been the first piece of info given. I have installed the PostScript card. Even tried a different card.

Was it a new card? Post script cards lock to the serial number of the first machine they are installed in.

So, unlike the old MPC4500 you cannot pull PostScript from one machine to the other. Is this correct?

Not correct. I have moved P/S chips from one machine to another with no trouble at all. It is more than likely a MAC version issue. MACs are easier to install than Windows. Make sure Bonjour is on, download the PPD installer form Ricoh's website. Go to System Preferences, add printer (plus sign) and it will do everything by itself in a about 30 seconds.

On MAC's, "default" is Bonjour. That can cause confusion when installing.

Bonjour is on and PPD is installed. No change

are you trying to scan to folder or printing. I had no problem printing long as ip information is correct and postscript installed.

Can you print PostScript to it from a Windows machine?

If you can, then you know PostScript is OK.

On the Mac, don't use the "default" queue; populate the field with "lp" (that's lowercase "ell pee").

I have found that leaving that field blank does not work.

You can also use 'print' for the print queue. It all gets redirected to the same place anyway.

I find it better to install the device as a HP JetDirect protocol device, otherwise the driver will constantly show the printer as paused.

Actually, I think anything but *blank* will work.

It's just that it used to be *lp*, and that has always worked for me.

Probably too late, but did you try to connect by hp jetdirect socket rather than lpd daemon?
