    2 networks 1 printer

I have a customer who runs 2 businesses in the same office, each running their own seperate network. He doesn't want the computers on the networks to be able to see each other but he wants to be able to have both networks printing to the Fuji Xerox IV C2275. Is it possible to put a 2nd network card into a Fuji Xerox IV C2275? Or any suggestions on what would be the best way to get this setup to work?

    thx

Printers are cheap enough, what is your customer's problem?

You can have one network printing through the ethernet port and the other printing through the usb port via a usb print server. You can get one for about $20.00.

There is are one or two variables to contend with.
        1. Are the two networks local to each other, or separated across the country?
        2. Is there a dedicated domain server for both networks, or just Pier-to-Pier routed ?
        3. How are the networks setup : fixed IP or DHCP ?

Some ideas for local proximity networks :
o If there is a central domain server the server should handle the printing full stop.
o Set up a separate 3rd network for the printer and allow port forwarding or bridge to the other two networks. (May conflict with port 9100???)
o Set up a single computer as a shared print server. Means leaving the PC on permanent.
o Buy small network printer server hardware, or USB to Ethernet converter.
o Use the USB cable connection of the printer as a separate second comms line. Means dedicated shared PC on permanent.

All in all though I prefer ZooTechs approach.
Unless the customer requires centralised security confirmed print outs(ie Bank cheques), Printers are reasonably cheap, so why not purchase another second printer..?

The networks are both local. 1 Runs a domain server the other is just routed pier 2 pier. It's also the other Scan (smb) + Fax features of the MFC that he wants to be able to use, not just the printing. Which is why he didn't want to buy a 2nd cheap printer.

Go with Flash's suggestion of a USB print server for one network, and the network connection on the printer for the other.

If the machine is scanning, it will only scan to the network connection, and not the USB.
Push/pull Twain driver should work for scanning over the USB second separate network.
Not sure about USB-to-Ethernet conversion hardware though.

Some old HP printers have external USB-to-Ethernet hardware but the HP software is configured for it.

Are they 2 separate physical networks or just 2 IP sub nets on the same physical network? Do they share a single internet access? If they share a single internet connection, on the network with the domain server set printing through the server, set the IP address of the printer on the pier to pier sub net then add an entry to the servers routing table for the printer.

If it's an IV C2275 then no it doesn't have a secondary Ethernet option.

The easiest approach if the customer doesn't have a proper I.T. person is to have one part of the business print via a USB connection back to a USB print server and the other via the standard Ethernet connection.

In regards to scanning just setup scan to e-mail.

Don't know this model, would Google print be an option?

we have that setup were I work. our IT person went into router setup permissions for that copier Ip address and we are able to print from both networks.
