After a power failure, a 1060 Ricoh scan to email service stopped working. Error message - email server authentication fail, check dns/email server config- The error was pretty much clear.
Inicial tests:
Assure the configuration was right: email server address, account loggin name/password (authentication enabled). Dns server address...bla, bla, bla...
By the way, this is a law office...not much to test except the equipment itself.
I connected my laptop to the network oulet to see if I can access internet. For some reason, I couldn't. Seemed to me a switch blocked me. I tried to emulate the copier, I couldn't.
I call their IT person: "everything is right, I have no problem, all the settings are right (He configured the scanner)".
Customer was fedup, had no choice but order printer/scanner dimm. Backordered and received 3 weeks later. Problem still there.
At this point had no choice but have their IT guy to go and double check everything.
After a 45 min phone support I provided him, he discovered the email server address was wrong.
I had to yell at him to double check his configuration.
It could be easier if the "IT guys" made their job the right way.
