bitdefender 2017 total protection smb scanning

Ok here is the deal... I can get scan to ftp to work in this setup with filezilla.

Basically with bitdefender it asks for an app to allow or block so this should be fine...

I am just having some strange issues with smb.

First... last year it would not scan to a smb unless the pc was set to anything but public

Now this year... I cann't set any policy like symantec to do scanning to smb.

Is it me or is bitdefender just a### backwards...

please can someone test bitdefender 2017 and tell me what I am missing

    windows 10 is the pc
    its wired...
if bitdefender is off everything is good scanning works
just have no idea how dot the I's and cross the t's to fix this issue

    fresh update...
    scanning started working again...
    after we rebooted the pc

we have two computers... both have quickbooks...
    one is a master quickbooks
    one is slave quickbooks
the slave is the one we are dealing with
    the slave worked after reboot...

we believe quickbooks... locked up the ports on the slave computers...

    well thats the working theory...

SMB on the slave computer works wether bitdefender is on or of since the reboot

has anyone else had this experience...

are we headed in the right direction

is there a windows 10 update to work with this issue...

    NOTE|:
scanning never worked on the master quickbooks computer
    with or without bitdefender

    please advise....

You not using any type of VPN access to somewhere else on that computer are you? Some high VPN clients such as Cisco lock down the security on the computer once the required services is launched. The service stays resident until the computer is either rebooted or the service is manually stopped. I had this with a company that serviced various pipe line and agricultural pumps. One of their major clients required that all invoicing be submitted through a Cisco VPN client connection on a daily basis.

I've had pc's that all SMB/Win folder sharing was fine except pending updates. Reboot, see message like "lease don't turn off, applying updates"... On restart, short delay, "applying updates" then SMB scan is fine. Seen it enough to insist every customer reboot before we proceed if ha ha... "nobody changed anything" ha ha!
