This may not help if you can only use FTP but SMB is working again on OSX 10.13. I just set one up and it tested fine. You have to turn on file sharing by going to Settings-> Sharing->File Sharing and check the box beside it. You can add other folders to share if you want to buy I find it is simplest to just create a share folder in the public folder and make the end user a shortcut on the desktop to it. Once you select the folder you are going to share click "Options" and and be sure the account the copier is going to log in with is selected (I usually just use the user's account) and that "Share files and folders using SMB" is turned on. The share path for the folder you created will look something like this assuming you created a folder called Scans in the public folder \\hostname\Users's Public Folder\Scans.

this is awesome troubleshooting, but a damn shame you need a computer science degree to get Macs to scan

I'd force them to use email or at least go home at night and hug my PC

Sorry for the late response. I have learned that this fix does not work on all sharps. It seems to be an SMB version problem. I was testing with a new MX-3070N and it worked no problem but when I later went back to try it on anything older I haven't had any success with the SMB route.

I am trying to install Scanning from a Canon AdvC5035. With Windows, I usually make a Folder on the Desktop called Canon Scans, does this procedure work the same on a Mac? Unfortunately SMB scanning does not work with high sierra. Will need to get the ftp app and set it up that way.

SMB does work with MacOS 10.13 if the copier supports SMBv3. I have got it working with the the new Sharp MX-3570N with no third party software.

Thanx for the info, did you set it up like a Microsoft windows setup. Scans folder in the home folder with all read and right permissions? ?

Yeah its basically the same although I have found that its easiest to browse out to the shared Mac folder from a Windows PC just to verify that I have the network path right. It is sometimes a little tricky figuring out what it should be from within the macOS interface and it lets me know if I have my credentials setup right as well.

I can not copy the ftp.plist file to LaunchDaemons. Can you help me?

Put your plust in ~/Library/LaunchAgents andvloadvit withlaunchctl from there, which is fine if you are the only user
Otherwise disable SIP, install it, then re-enable SIP

This caught me out last week, ended up sharing a folder and using SMB and it works fine on two clients.
