    afico 2045 printing problem

Hi all I am having a problem printing to a 2045.When a print job is sent to the printer the communication light lights up and the print engine starts but thats all that happens. The job is removed from the print Q as if it has been printed .I have changed the network cable, changed from dhcp to static ,checked all network addresses and connected to a laptop via a crossover cable. The printer pings on all occasions but still nothing happens.Anybody got any ideas,I'm thinking it maybe be a printer controller problem.

A couple of things come to mind.

    1. Has authentication on the MFD been enabled.
The printer error log should show authenication failures if it has.

    2. Has the DIPRINT protocol been disabled.
Check to see if it's enabled in the web interface.

Apart from that double check the TCP/IP port number is set to 9100 and that the printer is online.

If all those things check out, you might try adjusting the port settings. If you open the driver properties and select the ports tab and then configure port, change the port type from RAW to LPR, name the port "lp" (lowercase LP no quotes) and enable byte counting check box.

Have you tried pulling the print and memory DIMM's out and cleaned the contacts? (These still had DIMM's, right?) You can also try formatting the HDD and clearing the NCU settings before you order parts.

            User Codes

Make sure User codes are disable for the Printer. If User Codes are enable the print driver won't ask you for a code it just wont print.

One thing to check, that nobody else has mentioned, is check the driver type and make sure the equipment has the corresponding print device by printing out the printer configuration sheet: ie PS or pcl, some models do not have one or the other and that can cause the same symtom. flashing but then print job disapears
