Kyocera scan to smb on domain

I am trying trying to enter the right authentication style for a windows server to scan to smb to one of the shares.
I know it has to be a folder on the root
    cann't be mapped...
Just not sure of the style... Here are the various styles I have found for entering the user name in the address block for cs3501i

    domain\Username
    Username@Domain.com
    Username@Domain.local
    .Username
    Username@domain server ip address
    domain server ip address\Username

and if it helps the server I am connecting to is windows server 2016

A shared folder doesn't have to be on the root of a drive, though you generally don't want them buried either. Generally the best format to use for your paths on any MFP are:

      User: domain\username

      Share: \\server\share

or for a subfolder of a share (say a personal folder): \\server\share\folder

Make sure the copier's DNS is not using an external DNS server like Google or OpenDNS. In a domain environment, only use internal DNS servers.

If possible, see if the customer's IT can create a service account to access the shares instead of using a user's AD account. This also gives IT the ability to lock down the account so that it can't log into a computer directly and can only be used for authenticating to a resource.

        add the domain name
under network settings on the copier

rare that you would have to add domain name and user name

        what port?

        Whats the error message?

You would need a user name for an Active Directory network since open shares are very rare. If you're using open shares, make sure the customer is aware of it as well.

Adding the domain name generally does very little other than append any queries that the machine has to do for DNS lookups.

I don't know about Kyocera, but with Ricoh if the MFP is not a member of the domain, domain name properly set in network settings and primary DNS is the domain primary DNS, scan to folder is nearly impossible to set up.

We usually just create a local user that is used just for scanning. In this way when the domain user changes the password to their account the scanning will still work.

I've done this in the past, but a service account is a better solution for many customers. A service account is an AD account that exists to allow a service or software to access network resources. Group policy can be set to allow the account to keep a static password and to also allow the account to access a network resource, like a share, but not be able to log into a computer.

                    Service account makes sense...
                    ++++note++++
I got this info just felt this was a good place to put it...
if the share is in the domain controller server then create the user account in the domain controller server
if the share is not in the domain controller then create a local user account to access the share...
and the customer network dept took over so I didn't get any resolutions...
