Hello,
Just wondering if anyone else has seen this problem.
This is a small office environment. They said problem started about 2 months ago. Print drivers are installed locally on each PC and there is no server. Customer's PCs are hardwired as well as the copier of course (Kyocera 5052ci). Confirmed there are no partial updates installed awaiting a reboot. Also confirmed copier is on latest firmware, PCs have latest print driver, and are set to print to an IP port. Some computers have the printer show as offline once of more per day, some once a week. It takes either rebooting the PC or print spooler for it to show as online again. It isn't a uniform problem between the PCs - usually it's only 1 PC at a time can't print while the others can. restart the print spooler and it's back working again.
Throughout my entire last visit, I was running a constant ping to the copier. Never had a time-out. Not even once so its safe to assume the connection is there and stable even when moving/tugging on the cables. However in the middle of my visit, the PC I was sending a constant ping from and sending successful prints from now shows the printer as offline with no time-outs or high latency on the constant ping I'm sending.
As a temporary work around until they talk to their volunteer IT person, I put a shortcut on their desktop to restart the print spooler when they have the problem. I confirmed the copier is set to accept print jobs while in sleep mode. For troubleshooting I disabled the sleep timer so the copier only goes into energy saving mode.
I don't have any other customers with this issue. Has anyone else had this issue and found the culprit?
Thank you!
