    FYI endpoint protection software

    FYI endpoint protection software

    Blocks printer installations.
Installing printer stalls but never gives you an error.
Printer never added to the printers gui.
But under print server the driver is install.

Apparently the software is install to prevent copying files on computer's.

I am going to assume that the OS is Windows and you are using the manufacturer's print driver installation program. We have found since Win10, Winserver 2016 & 2019 if you do not right click on the print driver setup exe file and "run as administrator" the install for the print driver stalls as you say. The setup program needs to access system files during setup and not running as administrator Windows denies the setup program access to them causing the failure. I do not believe it is the endpoint software that is causing the issue.

If their IT support knows it is the end point protection denying the install, they should be able to disable the endpoint and allow the print driver install then re-enable the endpoint protection. I have had a few cases where installing a print driver in a locked down network would only work by using the Windows add printer wizard. While it did not load the full driver it at least got the client printing. I think it is time for IT support to step up and do their job. They want to lock a network down but then do not want to even support installing a printer.

Apparently their IT didn't know it blocked printers.
I had to chat with the software company and confirmed it blocks printers in general.
