Heads Up! Windows 10 20H2 Printing Woes

End user updated their Win 10 20H2 to this march update. And now they can't print. It stays stuck on the print spooler-forever.

Looks like the software engineers at Microsoft are at it again. I'm getting 1903-1909 nightmares.

Print driver "print test" page works without issues, PDF files RAW from the applications Adobe Acrobat is ok. But any PDF file from Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer and Edge stays in the spooler. Unfortunately, the program they use needs to print from a web browser application. So the temporary solution is to "Save as PDF" and simply wait, or use the computers in the office that are not affected by the updates.

Brace yourselves, I.T. calls are coming the next few days.

What brand of printers is this affecting?
Adversity temporarily visits a strong man but stays with the weak for a lifetime.

Which March update? There have been several variants of the cumulative update. The issue in this case seems more like a pure driver or spooler error than an update issue. More than likely, a print driver isn't isolated and is killing the spooler.

Every print driver install that I perform these days, I recommend:

        Control Panel
        - Network & Sharing Center
        -- Advanced Sharing Settings
        --- Network Discovery, Private
---- Uncheck "Automatic Setup of Network Connected devices".

This prevents Win 10 from automatically, upon the next Windows update, to change your print driver to one of Microsoft's choice.

With the now released Microsoft "Universal Print" expect even more unwelcome intrusions into client computers by Microsoft. Clients often click on links and give permissions to install things that they do not understand the consequences.

... or, in other words, a new opportunity to invoice the customer for services provided.

This particular client is printing to an Sharp MX-M753N with the latest Krack/TLS firmware from 2019.

I think it's KB5000842. Could be a driver issue, but I re-installed the driver first. Port is direct to IP, and the print driver "print test page" works without any issues. PDF files from ADOBE also works fine. The issue is strange because several browsers can't print those files. I tested IE, EDGE, CHROME, and FIREFOX. As stated before, their business requires the use of a browser application to conduct their services, and they print natively from them. And yes, I re-installed Chrome just in case.

To be clear, I also re-flashed firmware for our printer. Its the new 2019 Krack/TLS support firmware.

I... LOVE this. I will start doing this. These last 2 years of WIN 10 updates have been a nightmare. Although, I've had more issues with our HP plotters and printers than our Sharps. But thank you, I will do this as part of my routine install.
