Ricoh MP3054 5G WIFI scan to folder problem

Hello everyone I had a customer that wanted to use 5g wifi. So i bought a wifi extender that work on either 2 or 5g. So i test scan to folder and it works fine on the 2g side and printing too. Then switch to 5g side printing works fine but the scan to folder doesn't work. Is there something on copier that i can enable for this or is it a ricoh problem that will not work on 5g side for scan to folder.

    Thanks

How is the Ricoh connected? Wirelessly, or through a wired port on the extender?

If wireless, good luck. The wireless cards in these machines suck, big time.

Also, please be careful with the "5G" terminology.

Wireless Ethernet is either 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz, (which your router would provide). The modem may be "5G" (like on a smart phone), but that refers to "Group 5", and has nothing to do with frequency.

I see these terms get confused on a constant basis.

Check the windows firewall setting for the 5G wlan - I think it's considered as a new network and perhaps the firewall is set to "guest/public" instead of "private". You can also disable it completely for a quick check (3rd party security software, too).

Being Ricoh device or not it won't scan to network folder with network discovery turned off.

Network Discovery is an SMB1 feature. Any modern Ricoh machine will scan just fine without Network Discovery being available. The biggest issue with any hotspot style network is that you can often run into limitations in configuring what's available for other devices: even though the network itself may be accessible by multiple devices, you may not have the ability to completely communicate with them, even with the correct firewall rules in place at the host level.
