    vista problems

i have a laptop with vista on it .i needed to load a parts and service manual exe dvd.it would take the dvd in and just sit there and lock up the machine .i thought it must be a faulty disc so i got a new one .same thing (it would load on my desktop pc ).as i had to shutdown via the on off switch i kept getting the usual you havnt closed windows down properly and got the usuall choices screen.just on the off chance i loaded vista in safe mode then tried to load my program again and it loaded instantly as soon as i put the disk in .i have tried this with other programs and it works everytime .just thought this might help someone else.

When you load this disc in Safe Mode it works correctly? But the disc doesn't load correctly in Normal Windows? If that's true then there may be something conflicting with the DVD-ROM driver in Normal Windows mode. Check the Device Manager, you're looking for any yellow question marks or red x's. May not be a bad idea to run a scan disk and scan for viruses/malware.
