    Windows Quick Assist Update V22H2

If youi like using Windows Quick Assist to remotely assist your customers and have recently updated your computer to the latest 22H2 version, there are some significant changes I recommend you practise before you initiate your next remote session.

Besides the different look of the new Quick Assist, after you get permission from your customer to "Screen Share", you have to ask for a new second permission to "Take Control" of the mouse.

There is also a new row of control buttons across the top of the screen which such as highlight, annotate and chat but more interestingly abutton to take control of which monitor you are viewing.

It is very common to encounter users with two screens. This makes viewing the single screen you are interested in difficult t read as the text can be very small. In the recent past, you would have to request the user to press both the Windows key and the P (Projector) and scroll to single screen. At the end of the session you would ask the user to reverse this procedure toreturn to their dual screens.

Now with the new control keys you can before the before and after function yourself.

I use Quick Assist often and it saved me at least 1.5 hours of round trip driving and $20.00 worth of gas and parking today at a low revenue account.

One nice thing about Quick Assist is that it gets around anti-malware software like McAfee better, since it's part of the OS. The limitation that has me use Connectwise more often is the inability to transfer files to the client PC, and the fact that it only works on Windows (I have a lot of Mac clients, Connectwise handles those quite well)

I was surprised to learn while assisting another tech who had logged remotely into a customer's PC via Quick Assist that I could Quick Assist into the tech's PC via Quick Assist at the same time and collaborate on gettng the correct solution to a scan to folder issue.

Splashtop allows me to view multiple monitors and transfer files in both directions. Of course, you do have to pay for it. It also works for Windows, Mac and Chromebook.

Most of my clients have it disabled. I'll generally just use a screen share through Teams to either troubleshoot or just make basic config changes that don't require admin rights. For some of my higher tier clients I have VMs connected to their networks via VPN hosted on my office Hyper-V server that I can use for more in-depth work.

I am aware that you can screen share throught Teams but I never thought to use it that way for copier tech support. Thanks,
