    One Drive Error

I installed a new PC for a customer and they're using SharePoint and all folders are synced via OneDrive. This allows the user quick access with File Explorer. I've done this MANY times with never a problem. However, this time one of the folders won't sync. It says: "Sorry, we can’t sync this folder, You’re already syncing a shortcut to a folder from this shared library.” Error in OneDrive."

I've been researching the problem but I was wondering if anyone had any words of wisdom? Thanks in advance.

Only thing that I can think of is that a user may have already done a sync to their personal One Drive that they use to share across their work and home computers.

Thanks for the response but I don't think that's the problem. When you create a document in SharePoint it's saved to the cloud. When you sync a file in SharePoint, a local copy is made. When changes are made to the document, only the changes are sent to the other version of the document. Example - If you add a sentence to a Word doc., only that change is synced to the other version on the cloud thus both locations are synced together at all times. This process happens in the background. So that's how syncing works.

I think the solution will be to remove the shortcut to said folder in OneDrive and then try to sync again in SharePoint. That's what I gather from my online research, anyway. I'm gonna give it a shot in the morning.

      Thanks.

I resolved the error this morning. In the process, I learned a few things. One of the things I learned is where the local copy is kept once I sync a SharePoint file.

        Path:

        C:\Users\Your User Account\OneDrive
