    Redaction

Anybody have any thoughts on the ability of a cloud connected copier to automatically Redact documents according to the parameters a customer selects?

Xerox has a new Redaction app that does this automatically.

There are cloud based redaction subscription services out there.

You could scan a PDf file to a folder and then manually update the file into the cloud service for redaction.

We have a law office with a KM that uses a software called Dispatcher Pheonix. This package has OCR, redaction, meta data, page numbering, auto file naming, file conversions, etc.
This software is also subscription based.

The Xerox app is $30.00 per month or a one tme fee of $600.00 USD. It is a copier front end that links to a cloud back end that does all of the processing.

Custom copier front ends linking to cloud based back ends as a subsctiption service seems to be a new trend with copier apps delivering new sources of revenue.

I found one called Redact Documents - Permanently & Instantly | Redactable for $39.00 month or $5.00 per document. The copier would scan to a network folder and the operator would have to upload the documet into the Cloud portal.

        Re: Redaction

My issue with a cloud redaction system is you're exposing sensitive documents to a third party and allowing them to process them in order to do the redaction. Mostly that depends on the sensitivity of what is being redacted, especially for a regulated business entity. Without clear terms of the service and how they access or store the documents I'd lean towards just getting an Acrobat subscription and doing the redaction locally before moving to a cloud service.
