    Ricoh 2035 scan to email

    Aficio 2035 scan to email
has anybody ever set up one of these using G-mail as the mailserver ( or hotmail.com). I've got a customer with 3 xp machines and a 2035 on a small private office network and as these baby's don't scan to folder ( even though that's how the sales man sold it) so i need an email server to set it up. any input on this would be greatly appreciated. Our lot don't use scanrouter for some reason.Thanx in anticipationIn fact ANY help on this would be great
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change.

I'm having the same issue... just realized after 2 hours that scan to folder wasnt an option..not cool. My client had been lead to beleive that this machine had those capabilities as well so I think there's some sort of Ricoh conspiracy going on here.

I downloaded ScanRouter V2 and bashed my head on that POS for about an hour with no luck at all. Also, I can't find ANYWHERE on the control Panel or within Web Image Monitor (Web Interface) ANY settings for Email, except to add an email address for a user.

One quirky thing is that i found a log buried somewhere that has record of this machine scanning to email addresses by the previous owners.

did they strip this machine of it's emailing capabilities? Am I missing somthing? Am i being picked on by the Ricoh Gods?

    ugh.

According the Manual, and the Ricoh function compatibility matrix, the 2035 has scan to email capability if the print/scan option is installed.
Don't take that toner with me!

Ok, well i know they're printing but i didnt look to see which protocol they were using. I did notice that they had a parallel cable hooked to the back so i'm assuming they're using that for print.

So, on a Canon, Print/Scan is the same board..which is simply a network card.

What's the story with Ricoh? If they're using Parallel Print and it IS on the network (due to the fact much i can access it via the Web Interface) does that mean they have this Print/Scan option Enabled?

How can you tell if it does?

          Just to clarify
Ricoh 2035 Cannot scan to folder directly, (You have to use scanrouter for that)
Ricoh 2035E can scan to folder (No need for scan router)
2035E can scan to email, 2035 i think so.
Obviously you must have the printer/scanner option installed.
To see if you have it, look on the left site of the machine panel and see if you have the scanner key, if you do press it, if it shows the scanner options on the display then you have the scanner.
About using gmail accounts, I personally belive that you cannot use them because it requires encryption (SSL/TLS) and the machine is not capable of that.

I have the scanner option then it seems. and you're right, you'll need to use either your ISP or local email server to relay the email as a 3rd party internet email like Hotmail, MSN, Yahoo or Gmail does not allow unauthorized relaying.

I have all that in place, i just cant see ANYTHING in the config or admin sections for Email.. i'm completely out of luck.

The 2035 does not support authentication either, and you will need that as well. The 2035e does support authentication, not the "non-e version".

IIRC, 1035 and 2035 does not support authentication. 20 and 30 series e -versions do support auth. All series after this support auth.
