Problem installing drivers on MAC OSX 10.5

    Hi,
I had this issue yesterday, when installing the drivers onto the mac book I was working on, I didn't have anyproblems. downloaded the files, unstuffed it and ran the install. Put the files on to the correct drive enter the password, everything looked good.

Problem is, when adding a printer, the mac finds the printer on the network, but could not find the driver or PPDs in the normal area. still can't find where the files went to. I can find some simular models from the manufacture, but not the exact model that this customer has.

Has anyone had issue like this?

Some background info, the mac book, its running mac osx 10.5 and the printer is a KM2550.

    Thanks

you can do a few things here. You can re-extract the files (assuming they came in a hqx, rar, zip, etc.) and make note of where they are at. From there you can either drag and drop them in to the system library file appropriately or you can choose the 'other' option when selecting drivers and it will allow you to specify with 'Finder.' All should be good if you simply follow these steps. If you are still having problems finding the extracted files then use an alternate archive manager that will allow you to choose where to extract the files too. (ie. 7-zip, win rar, etc.)

This might sound wierd, but I have had this problem quite a few times and I finally figured out that you need to restart the Mac after the installer package has finished.

I know there will be a few Mac people that will laugh at this because you shouldn't need to restart, but it has brought the driver up after a restart.
Please don't ask me for firmware or service manuals as refusal often offends.
