Gestetner MPC2030 ON Ubuntu Hardy

Dear All
I have PC with Ubuntu Hardy, any one here have experience install print and scanner at ubuntu hardy. I am looking driver on gestetner site but i cant get it. So if any one here have driver for my os please share. Btw my MPC 2030 is standar machine

I've only messed with Ubuntu a few times. I was able to Get Black and White Copier working to it using some Generic Driver that Ubuntu Found. I did not have the features of the finisher. Perhaps you can find a Color drivers for another brand in the Ubuntu database. It has all kinds of drivers.

If you want the full functionality from your drivers in any Linux distro you will either have to find the Linux (and sometimes distro) compatible driver, or use the PostScript (PPD) file that is often included in the Windows PS driver available for download. As far as scanning is concerned it's all about how you want to scan and retrieve your documents. You can scan to e-mail obviously and use your standard e-mail client to retrieve. You can scan to FTP if you install the package 'ProFTPD' because it is very simple to set up even for novice users. If you want to use SMB scanning you'll have to install the SAMBA packages and set up file sharing. All of these options are assuming the scanner has network support. If editing the big scary text/configuration files is something you are not yet comfortable with I reccomend using the 'Webmin' package as there are modules for most server functions built in. If your scanner has no network support and you need to use the TWAIN driver there is also a solution for you. The GNOME system in Ubuntu has the XSane image scanning program built into your graphics section of you applications and it supports TWAIN scanning.

I don't know if your standard spec is different but in the UK,the MPC2030 only scans using the Twain driver,not SMB and prints using the RPCS driver.The machine doesn't have the capability to process the pcl5c or pcl6 driver data,all the processing is done by the RPCS driver on the pc.Good luck.
