    Scan to email question

Any simple ideas on how to restrict users from emailing external addresses using Exchange on large range of Lanier MFPs (old to latest). Actually want to disable the manual entry of email addresses as well but still want the users to be able to add fax numbers to the addressbook. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Virtually any settings you make to restrict the address entry for scans (e-mail) will apply to faxes as well.

The 'simple' way to control this is to turn on authentication for the scanning functions. Can be done for the MP2510/MP3500 generation onward. Don't know about older models. Tracking/monitoring can be done via the scan report/log.

      Thanks for your help.

They still want the ability to scan to internal email addresses, they are just wanting to restrict anything outside their domain. I would guess this would be done on their server side. Any ideas on a simple way of only restricting the machines. Maybe a filter linked to the administrators email address...the changes will affect a 100 plus devices so want to keep it simple. Anyone had a similar case.

        Relay

Relay to other domains can be restricted in the Exchange server. Relay Restrictions are set in the Access tab of the server properties. Unselect the "Allow all computers..." check box, then select the "Allow all except the list below" radial. Enter the IP of the copier into the list. Any mail sent from the copier will not be relayed to other domains.
