Fax test

Not sure if this is the correct area to post this, but as it is not manufacturer related here goes - mods please move it if wrong.

I used to know of a phone number that you could send a fax to that would automatically send a fax back and include a test page and a summary of line quality (noise/levels etc).

This number I used has been defunct for a while. So I got to wondering how this is done and if I could set it up at my company.

I assume it is PC based but what software does it use and how/where do I get it?
Any answers greatly appreciated.

In Australia, we use 1300368999 for the Telstra Testfax line. Also there is 1300368909, for a more thorough test, but never really used it. The first number gives the basic info needed (Transmission levels etc) as well as a copy of the fax page sent.
We use this feature on all new fax unit installs as a test and also as a great diagnostic tool in the field. Its used almost every day.
