Scanner can't connect outside local domain

I have a customer with a new KM C220 that is trying to scan to email. Thye have no onsite IT, and their offsite IT cannot be reached. Every time it tries to go outside the local domain, it immediately gets a connection timeout error. Using Wireshark, I was able to determine that the DNS server (running Win2003) is unable to locate the machine. Does the copier need to be added to the domain, and if so, how do I do it?

You need to add the m/cs ip as a trusted site and check content filters spam filters and routing rules

When you say scanning to email, will it work internally and not externally or is scanning to email just not working at all?

If you think it is a DNS issue, make sure that DDNS is turned on in the machine and then reboot it. You could also enter in a secondary DNS server for someone like DYNDNS if it is external.

If the machine will scan to email internally and not externally, then this is a security permission within Exchange / Domino / Email sever. You will need to whitelist the machine, or create a registered mailbox for the copier on the email server and put those credentials into the copier.
Please don't ask me for firmware or service manuals as refusal often offends.
