Cannot connect a Ricoh MP4000B to a customers network. I tested the mfp with crossover to my laptop and works fine can print and web into the machine. I can connect my laptop to the customers network using the same cable and data port, I get an ip address and with the laptop on the customer network I can go out to the internet and ping other addresses. But when I plug the MP 4000B using DHCP or assigning an ip address the machine will not connect to the network. Cannot ping it or will not grab an ip using dhcp. The customers IT person does not know of anything the would prevent it from connecting, but like I said I was able to connect my laptop and get an ip address and search the internet. Any ideas??

Just a thought... While a bunch of things can cause this, are you sure that their switch isn't allowing only gigabit connections? Very few MFPs have gigabit cards in them; normally they're 10/100 Mb/S.

I had a customer performing MAC address filtering. Since the latest crop of Ricoh MFP's have a different first six octets in the MAC the new boxes wouldn't connect because the client hadn't added the new MAC address pattern in the server to allow connections.Comment

I was under the impression that MAC filter is done per Address and not a Range of Address. The first 4 of a MAC are the Manufacturer ID if I recall. Guess you could filter by that.Comment

What kinda network hardware is this customer running? We talking Cisco/High end or Store Bought Routers and Switches?
Try a basic switch in between the copier and the wall plug your pc into that. You will be communicating on a Hardware level then and not based off IP.Comment
