    Ricoh 700 slow printing

hi, I have two ricoh 700 for printing, one of them has recently started giving very slow output whilst it worked smoothly before. it takes longer to spool and gives one print at a time. the port setting is LPR and que name is lq. I am using mini pcl driver on xp 32 bit. I have checked the RAM and they r ok. One thing i checked that this machine is slower in replying to ping request.

    looking forward to a solution.

you can try resetting the nic card and possibly adding a larger memory chip, also re-install the pcl driver

It may not matter, but the queue name is "lp", not "lq", as you posted.

Maybe you mistyped it, maybe not.

You also need to check "enable byte counting" on the LPR queue.

You may also want to try using Port 9100 instead of the LPR port.

      Also...

1). Connect a crossover cable and see if pinging is still slow. If it is, you have a machine issue.
2). Check all the usual suspects: duplicate IP address, bad Ethernet cables, bad ports on switches, etc..

      .

will certainly check tomorrow, guys one thing is strange, as the other machine is working smoothly on RAW, I had to change to LPR as the machine was pinging but not printing anything.

If your using LPR, I think the queue name should be "PORT1". also check you network speed.

Methinks you are right, there, Copyman.."PORT1" it is, all caps, no quotes.

            My bad.

It's been a looooong time since I've seen an Aficio 700.

I had a slow print issue a few months ago on one of these old controllers. It turned out to be that someone locked the NIC speed to 10MBs. I switch it to 100MBs and improved the print speed a lot.
