    Connectivity on Sharps and Canons?

So I've setup Ricoh machines to print/scan/lanfax etc for the past 5 years. Pretty much taught myself since the tech that was supposed to teach me got canned early on in the process.

Are Canons and Sharps easier? Do they have quirks I should know about. Any info would be awesome.

Sharp is quite easy to setup especially when using embedded web browser for programming. I can't speak for Canon as I do not have any experience with that manufacturer.

Thanks Dave, I've heard good things about sharps network side. Also heard Canon is a bit more complicated. I don't know anything about them.

I network Sharp copiers on a daily basis and have only been at it for about 2 years. Sharps are very simple to network. When I was new I found it kind of difficult however, once you get to know the machine a little bit they are extremely easy to manipulate to get them to work the way you want them to. I was in the same boat as you. I had one install training and didn't learn a thing from it. Since then I have just been playing around with the web interface and learn all of the ways to get what you want out of the machine. Sharps are by far, to me the easiest to install. I have had experience with Sharp, HP, Brother, and Keyocera. Sharp is definately the way to go!!! Hope this helps!

Canon and HP are similar, they both use window SMB to shared folder for scan.Panasonic and sharp are using their software PDMS and Sharpdesk for scan feature, easy and simple for their setup.

Yeah I've had customers that really liked the Sharp Software, but for some reason didn't like the machine. I saw no problem with it, they were just used to the Savin/Ricoh layout I guess.

Canon's are very simple to configure. Once you have a static IP in them, everything can be configured through the web page. They are simple overall.

Yeah that sounds sweet. Most MFP seem to be a pain at the console, but once you can log into their web page it's golden.
