    IP range, Huh?

Customer has a CF-9100 (c'mon stop that giggling please) Machine is printing fine. However, the Web Interface of the Fiery doesn't come up when the IP-Addres of the copier is entered in a browser.

If I look into the driver>properties>connections it shows that 169.254.6.100 is being used for the printer.
If I look up the IP-Address of the connected computer with IPCONFIG it shows 192.168.0.170 This computer is the one being able to print to the CF-9100.

CF-9100 and computer are both physically hooked up to the same switch.

Question: Why can I not call up the web interface by entering the CF-9100's IP-Address although printing goes flawlessly with that address?

They are on completely different networks, logically speaking. 169.254.xxx.xxx is generally an APIPA address space which is used when there is no DHCP server / router / whatever available. The devices all configure themselves in this address scheme. Are you absolutely sure that you weren't looking at an old TCP/IP port in the printer properties? Also, if the initial port was set up and then the IP is changed at a later date the old name will remain. Actually hit configure when viewing the port list and see if the port's name and actual IP are the same. You may have been fooled by a reconfigured port.

It is unusual to see a printer with a public IP instead of private, but If they can print fine that eliminates a lot of things.

      1. Print a config page and make sure web interface is enabled.
      2. Make sure their web browsers aren't blocking Java or pop-ups.
