Fiery Remote Scan 5 in Adobe Photoshop CS5

Hey all, I unfortunately don't have much hands on experience with the Fiery's, more specifically with the setup and configuration of Command Workstation and other Fiery features. I have a customer who is using the Fiery Remote Scan 5 to scan items directly into Photoshop CS2. The Fiery Remote Scan option is listed in the Import menu. THe customer just recently upgraded to the CS5 package, and the option does not appear in the CS5. Does anybody know how to add the Fiery Remote Scan feature into the CS5? Is it just a plug-in and where would the plug-in be located (assuming default installation) to add it?
    Thanks in advance

It might not be supported on that version of CS.

However, you can use a browser and type in the ip address of the fiery and download the installation files for user software from there. Command Workstation is also available here, though there are newer versions available from EFI.

    Fiery Command WorkStation 5

Just a quick registration and you can download both windows and mac versions. Setup on windows is pretty straight forward, once it is done, when run, it will automatically look for any and all fiery devices connected to the network, assuming they have been properly configured to the network themselves.

Command Workstation is already deployed to this system, but it appears that maybe they will need to reinstall the remote scan option for CS5 to see it. I have CS5 myself and the remote scan option does appear so it is supported. I was just hoping there was a way to get CS5 to see it without having to reinstall the command workstation or remote scan as it was originally installed with CS2, CS5 was added later.

The install program downloaded from the fiery will allow you to remove just the items you do not want to install. Unfortunately on my home PC, I cannot run the application for lack of a fiery here, to see what steps are needed to do this. I think you should be able to uninstall the old program from the windows uninstaller, then run the fiery app, select only Remote Scan and proceed from there without much fuss.

          FYI

In their "Lets See If We Can Screw This Up Mode" Adobe made the Twain Plugin that allows you to see or use a Twain Driver an optional download for CS5.
Go to Adobe's site and search for Twain Plugin for CS5 and they will direct you to download sites for Mac and Windows Versions.
It's as simple as dropping this one file into the Plugins folder in Photoshop or any other packages in CS5.

Yes indeed, the Twain plugin as well as many others were excluded from CS5. The plugin package available for download via Adobe's site did indeed resolve this issue, however it will only work in Photoshop 32 bit due to the devices lack of 64 bit twain drivers.
