    A+ certification suggestions?

Managed to dodge the bullet for 15 years; now it's time to get that piece of paper. Looking for suggestions on which book(s) to get that won't put me to sleep or bore me to tears. Anyone do a CBT or boot camp?

    Re: A+ certification suggestions?

It's been almost 10 years since I did my A+ so I'm sure a lot has changed.

What helped me more than the night classes & books was a freeware practice test program called Trandumper. I tried Testking, etc., but preferred Trandumper because you could select a question # range for the practice tests instead of just random questions. My feeble brain needed to go through blocks of questions repeatedly before they lodged into my memory.

Funny thing about the braindumps was that the Prometric tests were similar, whereas the MCSE tests were practically word for word.

I may have something current on the A+ cert. I'll look around.

I used the A+ for Dummies book. Easy to read and practice tests on cd.
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

CBT Nuggets. Best way to train at home for any major certification.

Lots of great suggestions; I'm going through the set from Prof. Messner right now but will likely pull up one of the other sources to reinforce what I'm learning. Again, thanks for all the advice!

Killtest: Leading the way in studying IT certifications. - Certification Material provider 220-701,VCP410... offers great question answer books. This will definitely get you certified but you wont know much in the end. The best teacher in my opinion is experience.

Wow that Professor Messer stuff looks pretty cool! I've been thinking about getting back into it again, and get some certys like A+ and Net+. Back in 04 I tried to pursue them but due to some personal circumstances, I had to stop for awhile. Doesn't look like I'll even have to get any books or very minimal.
