Tony, you are the man! It worked. Now, I would still like to do the document server deal just to say that I know it can work - I know this is the path of most resistance, but it's worth a try. I have come so far - having created a delivery server and an "in-tray" - let me know your thoughts.

    Thanks

Yes, Windows XP. I have loaded Scanrouter V2 Link (lite) on this machine and the delivery server and in-trays are set up. But like I said, I can't seem to get the Ricoh to see the ip or the folder. The web based admin utilty does not seem to have a section to address the delivery server, and the admin program does not seem to communicate to the Ricoh. What to do?

          scanrouter

Have u run the scanrouter lite or the scanrouter link?? if i was you i would start from scratch and just run scanrouter lite. then run the admin utility, go to server, set i/o device and add the ricoh device.

Okay so I did what you said and the machine actually updated itself, but then... when I went to the machine, it had a delivery address of 127.000.000.001 What the heck is that? It looked like it was just going swimmingly - but that is not the delivery server's address - it is supposed to be 192.168.0.5

                Ok here we go:
first of all if you want to use ScanRouter it has to be configured correctly.
                You need admin rights
you need a user name and password on the delivery server
you also need to input a static IP address on the Delivery Server
you must reboot at least 4 times
you must configure the firewall on the XP pro if you have SP2 open port 3670
!!!if the machine was already setup to use scan router and the delivery server is not there anymore you need to change the IP address in service mode

if you only want to scan to e-mail then you can just disable the delivery server then you will see SMTP server name under
user tools, system settings, file transfer, SMTP SERVER NAME,

if you want to default the Sender you can do that and if you don't do that you have to create some users in the address book and put a check mark where it says destination and sender.

                hope this works for you.

Have you tried turning off the firewall(s) while working to get scanrouter working?

Sounds AV/Firewall related as I've seen this with Norton a few times. Try manually programming the delivery server IP via SP Modes (5-845-2).
