Sharp MX-2310U w/account control. Wants to print B/W without user code.

I have a school district using an MX-2310U with account control. Teachers each have their own 5 digit number, students all use the same number at this time which only has B/W privileges. When a student needs to print color, they get a teacher to enter their code so that it will print in color. Any way to set this up so that students don't need to enter a code and it will only allow for b/w printing? Using policies in LDAP? Anything????

    thanks,

If you have access to Sharp IDNC site, check TT-20196. It goes over how to have B/W printing when account control is on.

I have pulled that TT and you still need to put in a code for B/W printing utilizing that process. That would work fine if I could get a user code to be part of the Printing Defaults in the Driver at the server, but unfortunately, the code does not migrate across the network with the default settings like the other attributes do.

Set up the kids as "Guest". By default, Guest will only allow B/W copy and print.
Failing to plan is planning to fail!!!

Or just log into the webpage as admin and create a new authority group and code of your choosing.

The problem with that, is they wanted to print in b/w without a code. Your suggestion is what I have them doing temporarily until I found the answer in this thread about assigning the students to the "guest" account. That did it.
              Thanks!

Typically with this situation I set up device account mode and check allow log in by different user this is done one the web page in user control default settings. This will keep the user selected logged in at all times. In order to print without codes users must check print as black and white only on the printing preferences within the printers and faxes menu. also on the machine you must also un-check the option Disabling of Printing by Invalid User box withing the admin user control page on the we interface of the machine. this will allow users to print in black and white with no restrictions.
