If you are looking at new products. Ricoh aquired the license to IPDS with thier acquasition of Infoprint over the last few years. The new Ricoh products have direct IPDS available as firmware for a relaitivly small fee.
That said, 90% of the machines we have put in AS400 situations were text output only.
