MXM363N Scanning to network folder issue

hey guys, i went to one of my clients today that wanted to scan to a shared folder on there server, so basically what we did was make a folder on there server and shared the folder on the network,i went into address book on the web interface and tried setting up scan to network folder, also put in primary DNS and secondary DNS when i tried to scan to folder got error "authentification problem" cant remember the error, so i tried to delete it on the web interface to start again and got this when trying to delete "it says cannot delete user default destination" not exact error but something like that, hope you guys can walk me thru this, i am at a total lost, thanks in advance.

Re: MXM363N Scanning to network folder issue

Hi. from my experience authentication problems generally are one of three issues.

1- the network path to the target folder must be entered exactly right. Depending on models and brands, this could show as an authentication error.
2- the user name must have permission to write to the target folder or have full control. Read permission will cause a failure.
3- the user name must be correctly stated for the network. Some domains require the domain name to be part of the user name. I'd also double check the password.

Sharp bulletin TT-20114 gives troubleshooting tips that apply to this machine. I would also make sure that the SMB protocal is not disabled or blocked on the server. It is difficult to be more specific without knowing more about the network and the setup. I am not familliar with the error you got when you tried to delete the target on the web browser. Hope this helps. If you can't find the bulliten let me know and I'll try to forward it to you.

Try logging in to the service web page. You can do pretty much anything from there. From the description though, I would think it has something to do with the admin login. Are they using user authentication?
