I picked up a Synology DS211j a few month back for home. Works well for file sharing with Linux, Android, and Windows. Does not come with drives. Many many features for the price including smtp email server so you can point the copier to the NAS.

      what doesn't work about it?

      are you scanning to it?

if so, what brand copier and what error code are you getting?

While these NAS devices don't have operating systems, you still have an IP address and logon/password for SMB scanning, software based scanning like FTP won't work.

But I am giving you very basic advice, I am not IT, for IT junkies anything is possible.
