    Ricoh printer emulation

Is it possible for a Ricoh MPC to emulate an Epson FX or IBM ProPrinter dot matrix printer? If so, how?

We're trying to print from an old linux-based terminal application, which sends some control characters suitable for a dot matrix printer, but our Ricoh tries to print them as characters, messing up the layout of the printout.

It's kind of a long shot, but here's a few things to try. More than likely there's not going to be an easy way to convert the data without some sort of middleware or third party solution.

Append CR to LF: turn ON

Change the symbol set (it may be a little bit of a search to find one that works)

You may also have to change some of the job formatting on the terminal as well, like formatting the job for lp.

How is the terminal connected to the copier? What is the terminal 'seeing' the device as?

Change the job formatting is out of the question. The software is so old it has the control sequences hard-coded in it. For that reason, it doesn't use any driver - it sees the device as a raw or text device.

Are the jobs sent via LPR or RAW to the printer?

I don't know about the Ricoh's, but other machines that I work on have provision to change the standard RAW settings for ports 9112, 9113 and so on. If your program is printing via RAW, then it might be possible to change the RAW port it send info to so as the machine may manipulate the job without interaction.
Please don't ask me for firmware or service manuals as refusal often offends.
