Getting a pointsource vi310 on the network

    Hi Guys,

This is probably a long shot. Like really a long shot. But here's what's up.

I got this pointsource vi310 (Kyocera Mita) from a remainder of my dads company. So this heavy baby is a leftover, and after some long travelling on its side, I'd to manually replace developer and toner, clean the whole machine and the lot.

So, I got it up and running again, copying like a baby (although two-sided prints hang all the time), but I'd like to get it printing from my pc, as it once did in the office.

So i plugged it into my network to do some bulk printing, but no signal, what-so-ever! Neither does the second light flash on the network card (on the copier), nor does my router or pc mention anything different. This makes met think the network-port isn't a regular RJ45 port after all? Perhaps it requires a cross-cable? Or does it function otherwise?

As I've read somewhere, there are only XP-drivers available, hereto I installed a VMware XP-machine, but no luck there either.

How do you guys think I can get this machine connected to my network and printing (again)? Or do I just put it outside next to the dumpster?

    Best,
the machine probably has a static ip address from its previous connection.set the machine to dhcp and see if it picks up an ip address from your router

Also make sure your VM is set up with a bridged IP, and not an NAT address to ensure it's hitting the network instead of staying in its own private one.

Thanks guys for the quick replies.

I've figured out it used a fixed IP, however, I haven't been able to get into the (or a) menu to change it since it probably needs administrator access or something?.

Thanks for the VM-ware tip, that would have saved me a couple of hours two years ago trying to test win7-beta on vmware then...

Password for that model is 6482 I think. You should be able to access network settings through a menu on the control panel
