FTP works, but until the Apple people get off their high horse and join the rest of the world, or there's a pile of firmware updates for existing equipment there's no love for SMB scanning.

if i had a dollar for every MAC SMB thread i would have about 3 dollars (just jokes)

hey what type of machine are you using a lot of Konica Minolta's (that's what i work with) need firmware updates also need to change the SMB authentication mode to v1/v2 and the time on the machine needs to be the same as the MAC

Symptom When perform Scan to SMB to the folder shared on Mac OSX 10.7, the scan job fails. Reproduction Environment C360Series: FW Ver.GC1-C6 C652Series: FW Ver.GC1-C5 bh423Series:FW Ver.GC1-C8 bh652Series:FW Ver.G00-F7 Reproduction Procedure 1.Create the shared folder on MacOSX10.7 2.Register Scan to SMB One-touch address to this folder on MFP panel 3.Send the scan job to this address. Result> Server Connect error occur and the scan job fails.

[Solution]

The issue was fixed with the following firmware. bh423 Series:GC6-C8 C360 Series:GC6-C6 C652 Series:GC6-C5 bh501 Series:GDL-21 bh751 Series:GCH-20 bh652 Series:GC3-F7 After installing the firmware, please be sure to change (confirm) the following settings to perform Scan to SMB *Select “ON” on Direct Hosting setting in SMB settings . *Select v1/v2 on NTLM Settings of Client Settings in SMB settings *Set the date/time on MFP to the same date/time on PC (Mac10.7) Maximum tolerance is plus or minus 2 hours

This is just 2nd hand info I got from a customer's IT. MAC changed their SMB on 10.7 - which is why we met up. Everything was good until a couple of users updated their laptops to 10.7. We ended up switching over to FTP scanning. The fun part is that FTP isn't enabled on 10.7.

You have to go thru Terminal & enter:
sudo -s launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/ftp.plist

edit: I work on Ricohs and don't think they have a firmware update for MAC 10.7 yet.

SMB scan works only with IP..how to get it to scan with Host Name? btw where to find host name on mac's?

doesn't work host name but works IP, normally means you don't have a working DNS entered. Host name can be found in apple, system prefrences im pretty sure.

You can also go to another computer and look at your network! Our 2 Mac's have computer names that are different from their network names. Threw me off for awhile trying to figure out scanning to a network folder on Sharps.

You can re-enable Samba (from SMBX) on OSX Lion by downloading SMBUp:
