Aficio MPC4501 cannot ping the client PC but PC can ping succesfully

Hi to everybody on this forum,

I am facing a strange problem related with connectivity.
1)I created a shared folder (with full permissions)on Desktop (WIN 7 64 bits), and checked it thru "Connection test" from MFP connection, it is not establishing.
    2) I manually configured the scan folder (named - scanfiles) path and I am browsing the network after entering into the machine following path - \\(ip of the machine)\scanfiles. it is delaying the connections.

    3) How ever Printing is working okay.

    4) Finally I can ping the IP of Rex Rotary AFICIO MPC4501 from my computer it is successful. But when I ping the PC's IP, from MFP it is not pinging, and Gateway IP (from MFP) is pinging okay.

My aim is to run Scan-to-Folder on WIN7 (64bits), Model of MFP is RexRotary Aficio MFC 4501.

Can any ony guide me proper way in, how to check and establish Shared Folder on network.

    THANK YOU ALL.

It could be that the PC is configured not to respond to ping commands. Make sure file and printer sharing is enabled and check password settings for the PC. You can share a folder with or without a password. Anti-virus software or firewalls can also block traffic from the MFP to the computer.

I always browse to the folder from the copier.
      User settings/Administrator/ Address book/ Folder/ Browse network.
This way I can see what the copier sees at each step.
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

You should see the Domain or Workgroup first, then hit the one you want.
Next you will see computer names, hit the one you want.
You get computer name by Start/ Control Panel/ System.
Next browse to the folder hopefuly shared to everyone with full rights and firewalls turned off. You can fight with the firewall later.
I scan in a meter sheet because it shows date and time with machine serial #. Covers my ass later.
Why do they call it common sense?

I'm guessing the Eric1968 is on the money here.

Check what firewall software the PC has and try disabling it temporarily to see if you can then get a connection. If you can't, then you will need to make sure that the third party and Windows firewalls are disabled for the test. If you still can't, then again, make sure that the Print and File Sharing option is enabled from the Network and Sharing Center and that the computer isn't a attached to a "Public Network".

The firewall wall rule to look for when it comes to pinging is ICMP Echo Request Inbound.
Please don't ask me for firmware or service manuals as refusal often offends.
