    SMB share keeps dropping from Fiery connected Canon/Xerox devices

    Hi all We have a problem that arises here and there. It relates to smb sharing to a folder on the network. Details of system are below: Fiery sys software version 8 R2 Fiery sys software version 9 R2 Windows XP SP2 Windows 64bit SP2 Scanning to Windows 2003/2008/2008 R2 shares on the network The problem is the scanning tends to send a file and it just dissapears. Errors tend to lean towards auth issues. You are still able to print to the Fiery devices so that part of the network is working. If you reboot the Fiery the scanning works again. All normal trouble shooting techniques applied, these include: Reload of sys software, all patches loaded. Firmware on copier all up to date, domain connection and workgroup (same issuse occurs) So is this a Windows XP service issue somewhere? If so which one? Anyone else ever come across this before? Is it a samba version clash with the server? Been trawling google but can't find a decent answer. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

    A few things to try, disable SNMP on the printer. Add a switch between the Fiery and router. Turn off Multicast discovery. Other than those settings it is something on the XP machines. Is NetBEUI or NetBIOS enabled on the XP machines?
    In my experience firmware update has fixed the majority of the dropping off a network issue, the rest have been what I mentioned above, or their It found a fix and just never got back with me.

      Thanks for the response. We have disabled netbios over tcp/ip for now. unfortunately we need to have SNMP running as we use a software to analyze toner consumption and meter reading etc. Multicast discovery is definately off. Havent tried a switch between switch between a router/switch (will give that a whirl).
