Panasonic Comms Utility... Win 7 Problem

    Hi,

One of our customers has upgraded all the PC's in the office and the server too. It has been done by a third party IT company. They are all printing fine and for the first 5 days all scanning apart from one PC.

I recieved a phone call from this IT company asking me if there is any issues with Comms Utility and windows 7 as the entire office is now dropping off the address list. I checked to see if comms utility was running (I.E the little blue icon in the tray) It was. All the PC's are hardwired and not wireless connections.

I've never come across this issue with Comms before, has anyone else?

It's not antivirus software. My next thing will be to see if they are running live essentials as I know that it affects SMB with some develops (konica rebadges) we have out in the field.

Any help would be really appreciated.

    Kal.

I don't think its a Windows 7 issue. I have 7 on mine and never had an issue scanning using the utility. Although, I have had customers call for not scanning, regaurdless of OS. Sometimes the icon is not in the notification area, so I go to the Panasonic folder and click it to solve the problem. Sometimes its there and I go to the Panasonic folder and click on the Windows Firewall setting tool. Other times I just reboot the PC. I was told that updates to the anti virus or windows updates may block it. But doing the firewall tool seems to take care of it. You might want to post this under the Panasonic forum. There are folks there who know more about this than I do. Let us know what you find.

      Hi,

Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it.

I actually went out to site and the IT company were morons. Everything was fine. They hadn't changed the keynames and the client couldn't find their name on there.

F.Y.I - I have had Panasonics out there that are printing fine, the comms is running but no scans are coming through. It's been down to clients installing anti-virus software and not creating exceptions in the firewall. It's getting more and more common.

      Thanks again.
