    eCopy Desktop Canon to Ricoh

I have a customer running eCopy desktop ver. 8.5 that they were using with their Canon 5050. Well we just sold them a Lanier MPc5502 and when they scan a doc to a share folder in PDF format and then try to edit that doc with eCopy it tells them that only Canon generated scans can be edited.

Im not very familiar with eCopy, can there be a fix/work around for this?

    Thanks

I ran into an issue years ago. I think the solution is you have to buy the ecopy for the Lanier (Ricoh). I think they sell one for Canon and one for Ricoh. Call the sales side for ecopy.

That version of eCopy Desktop is VERY old and no longer supported. And yes, it only worked with Canon scans.

The customer will need to purchase a newer copy of eCopy Desktop (now called "PDF Office Pro") if they want to manipulate the scans from the Lanier.

Note: You may want to have them try scanning to TIF instead, and then using the import feature in eCopy Desktop to bring the file in. No guarantees but it may be worth a shot.

Will PDF Office Pro work with both the Canon and Lanier machine? (They kept the Canon as back up)

        Thanks

          Can't see why not.

I think you can get a trial copy, just to check it out.

Yep. You can get a 45 day trial, right here: Download eCopy PDF Pro Office - Nuance

              Enjoy!

BTW... I'd be willing to bet that the limited version of eCopy Desktop was included with Universal Send with the Canon - I had a TON of those out there at one time.

Re: eCopy Desktop Canon to Ricoh

                I'm late but ...

If your customer use eCopy Desktop for modify MDP after a basic Scan to folder, it's work with all PDF (so it's work with Ricoh scan too).

But all other information are true : Ecopy Desktop 8 is very old version for example

You have two software for eCopy : The server Version and the desktop version.

The Server software is eCopy ShareScan, it's a client/server solution. Client in MFP (Ricoh and Canon for example) and Server in a ... Windows server
This software can create workflow for your scan.

The Desktop software is PDF Pro Office (older eCopy PaperWorks, older eCopy Desktop).
This software can modifiy and OCR document in a computer.

For your Customer, PDF Pro Office are more option than eCopy Desktop, but it's more hard to use it ...

If you are a Lanier dealer, propose the Personal Paperless Document Management software for the Ricoh Family Group. It is a more comprehensive PDF tool (but also from Nuance, like eCopy) that is marketed by your manufacturer, so there is better value for your dealership, and more benifits for your customer.
