    SMB Admin credentials ??

OK so I learned day one SMB login has to be an Administrator account.

So I am on the phone with IT who's remoting in setting up a Bizhub C364.

I tell him to put in an Admin account and password

He's says that ridiculous and wouldn't buy a machine with such an egregious security flaw. He says to write to a folder shouldn't need admin credentials. I sheepishly agree but tell him that's what I know.

So there he goes, makes a non-admin bizhub account on the server and voila it scans.

Where did I go wrong? day one?

No need for an admin account. In fact, it's a VERY BAD idea, as it's a security risk.

As long as the account used has both network and NTFS rights to the selected folder(s), that's all that matters.

Also, make sure its an account with a non-expiring password, as you'll likely be getting called out each time it expires. (Been there!)

It is more important as to how the SAHRED folder is created, so that the user account to validate has the ability to WRITE to the folder is correct.
