    Panasonic DP-3030 and wireless bridge

I am using a Linksys WET54G wireless bridge to access the company's wireless network for a Panasonic Workio DP-3030. I have successfully setup the copier to work as a network printer. I can read/write the copiers address book and configuration menus with various panasonic utilities from a users pc. I have tried various configurations, but cannot get the scan to file function to work. Whenever I try this I get nothing but a generic "transmission failed" message.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    thanks

    DP workio scanning

To scan to PC from the DP3030 you must have the Panasonic Communications Utility installed and running at the PC. You can download this from Digital Imaging Systems | Products Information | Panasonic Communications Co., Ltd.. Once installed, right click the PCU icon in the system tray at the desktop, scroll to scanner configuration and select. Note:There is no need to mess with "add a device" selection as this is only used to connect to a machine on a different subnet "ie large departmental accounts". Next type whatever name you want the PC to be identified as in the Key Name dialog box and click OK. The address should now automatically populate the scanner address book at the machine. Note: the address at the machine will dissappear when the PC is logged off or PCU is shut down at the PC. You should now be able to scan to the PC. Most users prefer to scan to Windows Explorer as a PDF and rt click to send to email recipient after proofing. You make these selections also from the scanner configuration window as well.

      Fixed.....for the most part

Thanks for the reply. I've had the communications utility installed on a pc since the beginning, along with every other app panasonic had on their website. I decided to go another direction today and concentrate on ftp, which doesn't require that app, which I'd rather not deploy (makes it easier for the end user) anyway. I was able to get ftp to work to a fileserver...so I think I'm going to quite while I'm ahead and go with that.

If anyone ever needs info specific to ftp access utilizing a linksys wet54g and and workio dp3030 I might be able to help.

if you are able to print and do everything else with the machine but scanning to file, then I think that you have a firewall bocking the panasonic communications utility.
if you have an XP machine with SP2 create an exception on the firewall for port 6509 and make sure that the excempions are allowed.

        good luck

Yeah...I tried that too...but no luck. I think I'll stick with the ftp for now. It seems to work pretty quickly and doesn't require an install on individual PCs in order to view scanned docs. I'm pretty sure I"m probably missing one checkbox somewhere.

Hi. This is my first response in this forum and didn't want to open a new thread just for this.

I have a DP-3030 connected by USB and can't get the scanner function to work, then i was reading this thread and i ask you, the scanning function is only available if the DP-3030 is connected by network (i.e. ethernet/wireless bridge/etc.) ???

              Thanks

Make sure the AP and the Bridge are allowing FileSharing and I think its port 139, double check on that, but the idea is, make sure the Access Point and the Bridge you're using are not blocking the transmission

FYI... You do not Need the PCU if you configure to scan to FTP, I just setup a client on a DP-3030 with Scan-to-FTP using FlieZilla Ftp Server, no need of the PCU and it worked like a CHarm!
