    Ricoh MPc3000 scan to email

Can someone please tell me how I can setup this unit to scan to email without having SSL. My customers provider requires it. Is there a free outgoing SMTP server I could use?
    Thanks

I use a yahoo mail account in these cases. It doesn't use encryption, and works perfectly. I've been told GMX works too, but I've never looked into it myself.
When you set it up, use the IP address of the mail server and NOT the SMTP server name (I've never had success using the name).
There are TONS of threads in the Ricoh copier forum relating to scan to email /SSL workarounds, etc.

TIP: If you're searching, don't worry about focusing on the specific Ricoh Model for advice on this, the setup /configuration is basically the same throughout the lineup.

      This has worked for me:

If the machine does not have SSL capability use aspmx.l.google.com on port 25. This does not require authentication and will only allow them to email within abccompany.com. The administrators email and "Auto Specify Sender" must be on or a sender's email must be from within their domain.

Another workaround that some of my customers have been fine with is to set up the copier to encrypt the PDF. This will create a password protected PDF with the password set up when the job is created. The way it works for one of my clients is they scan and email the protected files and then call the recipient with the password to open the file. Since the end recipient has full Acrobat they're able to remove the protection on their side once it's on their servers.
