Sharp AR-M205 Usb Cable Scanning....

Have the above model that a client wants to use for scanning from a laptop (direct Connect via USB 2 to USB 1.1) and I have found no way to make that happen. This is not on a network so no assigned IP addresses and even when the laptop sees the model, I can find no drivers via sharp nor anyway that Sharpdesk (a network scanning tool) can make it work.

The laptop was running XP, and I have followed the Software Setup Guide but still no success. Was going to try windows 7 next, but...just frustrating.

Any help would be appreciated.

You need the Sharpdesk GDI version.

Thank you for the response. Did try the GDI print driver in the list (still would not print) but not sure if I downloaded a GDI version of SharpDesk. Will look in that direction. And of course I had disabled any types of virus protection firewalls ect.

If you go to IDNC site the Sharpdesk GDI is under the Software Library.

Downloading now.....wonder if it still has that very cryptic license key that SD 3.2 has (). This is an offsite installation so I hope it works. Sorry for the ignorance....but what does the GDI stand for?

Downloaded the GDI package, went to the install, still failed. Lol no button on Sharpdesk to search for the scanner (like the networking version), although the computer can see copier. I followed the instructions on the software installation guide but still no dice.

If someone has the time to let me know what steps I should be taking, would be much appreciated.

button manager is needed and the copier needs erb7(electronic sort board) installed according to spec in service manual.

Download this two drivers: MFP Driver (Integrated Installer for GDI/SPLC Printing & Scanning via USB)
and ARM160/205 Button Manager A - (required for USB scanning).

Thanks for the new directions, will try again today.
