Kyocera TASKalfa 250c scan to email using Google Apps

Please someone help me! First of all - I am seeing different information regarding SSL capability on the TASKalfa 250ci Can anyone confirm if this model does indeed support SSL?

Does Anyone have any advice to offer on setting up scan to email with Google Apps? I'm at a loss.

I've got SMTP set to port 587 and server smtp.gmail.com

When I test from the Command Center I get "OK" but when I try to scan from the machine I get a 3101 error. I can print to the machine fine so I know there is connectivity... HELP?

Google uses START/TLS which the 250ci does not support. About the best workaround I have found is if you use their unsecured smtp server you could scan to email but only to gmail accounts and not outside of that. They may have changed as I've not tried it in several months.

Could you elaborate? I don't even mind if they only scan to google accounts at this point! I've just got to get it working with SOMETHING!

The new generation of Taskalfas support START/TLS protocol with smtp. Google uses this protocol. Older generations of Taskalfa or any other Kyocera do not support this protocol and never will. Tech support said that. They were just not designed to handle it when they came out. This might help you. It does list the unsecured google server but I could not verify if it works or not.

I fought this issue about May of last year when one of our big local cable internet providers decided to convert over to gmail. My life was hell for about 3 weeks.
