    3rd Party Print Tracking Software

Does anyone know of a Windows software that tracks printing across a network?

I have a customer that needs to keep accounts on printing by specific job numbers. The native tracking application on the printer itself doesn't keep track of how many prints on each paper size they've printed, just monochrome and color. I would need a 3rd party application that would track both.

If you are just looking at tracking printing only, the PaperCut NG would be a great option as the level of job logging and reporting is great.

If you want to copying as well and you have a compatible machine, then PaperCut MF will track printing, copying and scanning.
Please don't ask me for firmware or service manuals as refusal often offends.

You can get all the information through the webpage of that model. Via the web page, go to Job Log and save the data as a CSV file to your computer. You also have the option to save and delete the data to start a new, clear job log.

You can open the CSV file in Excel. It provides a lot of information, including the page sizes used, color or B&W, user number, and more. It is pretty unwieldy, but using Excel's sort features, you could probably get the information that the customer needs.

That said, you're probably better off getting third party software to monitor the copies/prints and report the information in a user-friendly format.

That is the method they are using right now. It tracks most features, but they would like to track how many 8.5" x 11" vs. 11" x 17" pages they've printed, a feature which is absent from this software.
