    Sharp MX-3115 on Mac OS X 10.7

    Hi everyone,

I am trying to set up printing for one of our customers. They have a Sharp MX-3115, and they want to print from a Mac running Mac OS X 10.7. The printer has PostScript installed already. I installed the drivers, tried removing and adding the printer multiple times, tried resetting the printing system, but nothing has worked.

The printer is recognized and the Mac uses the correct drivers for it, however when you try to print, it opens the print queue as if it is printing. Then, it closes and nothing happens.

They are using user codes on their copier, however they said it is only used when copying. On their windows computers they can print without inputting user codes. I tried to print using job handling and inputting the username and password, and it still did not work.

I've installed Mac drivers before, and it is normally very easy. Anyone have any suggestions?

    Thank you,
    Nathan

Disable User Auth., if it works then you know it isn't a network fault. You can enter the user auth. information in to the printer driver for each Mac that needs printing. If they don't have individual codes, just create a single one for printing, giving it full rights.

Also make sure you are printing through direct IP and not AppleTalk/Bonjour.

Thanks for the reply! I think I was printing directly from the IP, but I did not try to disable user authentication. I'll give it a try next time I am out there and post my results.

      Thanks again,
      Nathan
